Staff Profiles

Jacqueline O'Neill

Jackie O'Neill, Harvard's 10th University Marshal, has also served in a variety of other roles during her 30-year career at the University, including chief of staff to the president, associate vice president for government and community affairs, and senior communications consultant to the Allston Initiative. As the University's chief protocol officer, Jackie reports to the President, and manages visits for heads of state and other high-level officials to Harvard. She also oversees the Commencement Office, and is responsible for the planning and execution of other large scale, University-wide celebrations, including the past three presidential inaugurations, and a special convocation for Nelson Mandela. Ms. O'Neill received a B.A. from Boston College, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School. She currently serves as chair of the fiduciary board of the American Repertory Theatre and also chairs the board of McBride House, a facility for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.

 

Jill Chamberlain

Jill Chamberlain, Assistant University Marshal, works directly with staff in the offices of the President and Provost, and with faculty, administrators, and student leaders to coordinate the itineraries for heads of state, dignitaries, and other high-profile visitors who come to Harvard on public and private visits. She also oversees the Marshal’s Office staff, and manages the office’s programs, operations, and administrative functions. Prior to her position as Assistant University Marshal, Jill worked in the Harvard International Office and in the Registrar’s Office at the Harvard Law School. She has a B.S. in Organizational Science from Lesley University and a certificate in Landscape Design History from The Landscape Institute of the Arnold Arboretum, formerly the Radcliffe Seminars. She is a member of the ARTS FIRST Planning Committee, the Harvard Heroes Organizing Committee, and the Board of Freshman Advisers.

Sarah Speltz

Sarah Speltz provides support to the University Marshal's Office staff members, manages the gift inventory, and is responsible for website content. Before moving to Boston, Sarah taught high school English for six years in St. Charles, Minnesota. She has her B.A. in secondary education from Wartburg College in Iowa and her M.A. in English from Winona State University in Minnesota. She is also a group exercise instructor at various gyms in Boston and Cambridge, including Shad Hall at the Harvard Business School.
