On November 1st, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene (King of Asante) of Ghana visited Harvard University, sponsored by the Committee on African Studies, and was welcomed for a courtesy call by the University Marshal, Jackie O'Neill. While at Harvard, he met with faculty members and department chairs about the future of Ghanaian educational institutions, and delivered the Harvard Distinguished African Address at the Center for Government and International Studies.
During his trip, the Asantehene was also in Boston to open an exhibition entitled, West African Gold: Akan Regalia from the Glassell Collection, at the Museum of Fine Arts.
